BSE net profit rises 24% in March quarter

The stock exchange BSE on Thursday reported a 24% rise in net profit at Rs88.61 crore for the March quarter.

The bourse had reported a net profit of Rs71.52 crore in the same quarter a year ago.

Its revenue from operations grew 11% at Rs227.01 crore in the March quarter. The same was at Rs204.59 crore in the year-ago period. 

The exchange has declared a final dividend of Rs12 per equity share for the FY23.

“FY2023 was a challenging but pivotal year for BSE. We made important progress regarding our priorities and have taken significant steps to improve our product profile,” BSE MD and CEO Sundararaman Ramamurthy said.

“As we move forward, there is a significant opportunity to continue to expand and evolve the products and services within our core business,” Ramamurthy added.

For the full fiscal year 2022-23, BSE’s net profit fell 16% at Rs205.65 crore from Rs244.93 crore a year ago.

Its revenue for 2022-23 rose 10% at Rs815.53 crore from Rs743.15 crore a year ago.

The average daily turnover in the equity cash segment fell 23% at Rs4,132 crore in FY23 as compared to the year-ago period. The average daily turnover in the equity derivative segment stood at Rs1.38 lakh crore, down 48% from the previous fiscal.
