‘shocked’ Edu Min Denies Role In Bjd Leader’s Death | Bhubaneswar News – Times of India

BHUBANESWAR: School and mass education minister Samir Ranjan Dash on Sunday dismissed allegations about his involvement in the recent death of BJD zilla parishad member Dharmendra Sahoo (48), who was found hanging in his house in Sisupalgarh on September 24.
Based on preliminary investigation, the police said Sahoo, a zilla parishad member from Gop area of Puri district, died by suicide. However, opposition parties have been blaming Dash for his death.
“I am shocked at Sahoo’s death as he belonged to my zilla parishad zone in Nimapara. The allegations of the opposition parties regarding my involvement in the death are baseless,” Dash said.
The BJP and Congress have been demanding that the minister be brought under the purview of investigation. They have already taken out rallies against the minister.
“The minister is responsible for the marital discord in Sahoo’s life. Sahoo had attempted to kill himself a few days back, following his problem with the minister,” BJP youth wing president (Bhubaneswar) Swayam Sevak Ray said.
The BJP said Sahoo had spoken with Akhaya Behera, a journalist from Nimapara, a few hours before his death. The party alleged that their conversation was recorded by Behera, who has shared the audio clip with the commissionerate police.
“In the audio clip, Sahoo named minister Dash and some other people for having ruined his life. Sahoo told Akhaya that he would killed himself and for which the minister should be held responsible,” Ray claimed.
On Sunday, Behera appeared at the office of the deputy commissioner of police. “I narrated everything Sahoo had shared with me over phone before his death.
He named minister Samir Dash and some others for creating trouble in his life. The police should properly investigate the matter,” Behera said.
Police said they would send the phone to the cyber forensic laboratory to examine the conversation.
