Mann Ki Baat: Chandigarh Airport to be named after Bhagat Singh, says PM Modi
While hosting the 93rd episode of Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the Chandigarh Airport will be renamed after freedom fighter Bhagat Singh.
He said that an important day of ‘Amrit Mahotsav’ is coming on September 28 when the birth anniversary of Bhagat Singh will be celebrated. “Just before his birth anniversary, as a tribute, an important decision has been taken, it has been decided that the Chandigarh airport will now be named after Shaheed Bhagat Singh,” PM Modi sai.d
He also talked about how climate change is a major threat to marine ecosystems and the litter on our beaches is disturbing. It is our responsibility to tackle these challenges, he added.
Talking about the return of the cheetahs in India, PM Modi said that 130 crore Indians were elated and filled with pride after the animals returned to India on September 17 from Namibia.
“People from many corners of the country expressed happiness over the return of the cheetahs. 130 crore Indians were elated and filled with pride. A task force will monitor the cheetahs, on the basis of which we’ll decide when you can visit them,” PM Modi said.
Over 70 years after they went extinct in India, cheetahs returned to India on September 17, this year, coinciding with PM Modi’s birthday. Eight African cheetahs from Namibia — five females and three males between the ages of 4-6 years — were flown 8,000 km over the Indian ocean to the Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh, where they were released as part of India’s Rs 90-crore Cheetah Introduction project.
Modi also paid tributes to BJP ideologue Deen Dayal Upadhyaya during his speech, saying he was a profound thinker and a great son of the country.
In the previous edition of Mann ki baat, the Prime Minister urged people to take part in the efforts to eradicate malnutrition in September, which is observed as a “Poshan Maah” every year.
