Market timings revised for Monday for Ram Temple ‘Pran Prathistha’ ceremony

In the wake of the Ram temple ceremony in Ayodhya, the Reserve Bank of India has revised the stock market trading hours for Monday. The revised timings have been issued after the declaration of half-day for all government offices and institutions on January 22.

Stock market trading timing has been revised for Monday on the ocassion of Ram Temple ceremony in Ayodhya.

Operations of all the markets regulated by the RBI, including market repo in government securities, tri-party repo in govt securities, commercial paper and certificate of deposits, forex derivatives, etc, will be done between 2:30 pm and 5:00 pm.

“Settlement of the auction of Government of India dated securities conducted on January 19, 2024, will take place on January 22, 2024, after the commencement of market trading hours at 2:30 pm,” said RBI in its circular.

The markets will operate on their normal timings from January 23. Notably, several states including Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Haryana, UP, and Maharashtra, have announced half-day work on January 22 in the wake of the Pran Pratishtha ceremony in Ayodhya Ram Mandir on Monday.

To mark the ceremony, all the public sector banks, insurance companies, financial institutions, and regional rural banks (RRBs) across the country will remain shut for half a day on January 22.

The order was released by the Department of Personnel and Training for central government establishment. 

The Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha at Ayodhya will be celebrated on 22nd January 2024 across India. To enable employees to participate in the celebrations, it has been decided that all central government offices, central institutions, and central industrial establishments throughout India will be closed for half a day till 1430 hours on 22nd January 2024,” the DOPT order said.
