The results of the assembly polls in Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland will be announced today. The voting on 178 seats across the three states was held on February 16 and 27 marking the first round of polls in an electorally-crucial year.

While there are 60 seats in Nagaland, polls were held in 59 seats as one constituency (Akuluto) has been won uncontested by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In Meghalaya too, the total number come down from 60 to 59 as election on one seat has been countermanded.
Stakes are high for the BJP in Tripura, a Left stronghold captured by the party in 2018. The results of the polls in Meghalaya and Nagaland will also answer whether it has made further inroads in the two states or the opposition has managed to dent its influence.

Meghalaya Election Results: BJP Fought On All 60 Seats
For the first time, the BJP has fought on all 60 seats in Meghalaya. The BJP has targeted National People’s Party leader and Chief Minister Conrad Sangma for running the “most corrupt” state government in the country.
In Tripura, traditional rivals Congress and the Left have joined hands for the first time to challenge the BJP in the election to the state’s 60-member assembly.
The voting on 178 seats across the three states was held on February 16 and 27 marking the first round of polls in an electorally-crucial year. The BJP is hopeful of the outcome giving it momentum for the poll battles ahead.
Apart from the three states, results will also be declared in the bypolls for Erode (East) seat in Tamil Nadu, Sagardighi in West Bengal, Ramgarh in Jharkhand where polling was held on February 27. Polling for Kasba Peth and Chinchwad in Maharashtra was held on February 26. Apart from the assembly polls, the bypolls have also evoked wide interest due to battle for supremacy between two factions of Shiv Sena.
